ff at the gff…

Glasgow City-20130223-01585One day in, five films down and a quick post from my mini hotel room which I have been pretending is a spaceship; I am the proud owner of a freebie Texas Chainsaw 3D T-shirt (funnily enough, there’s always some left in Small at genre events), a very lovely and comprehensive GFF programme which has made me wish I’d been here for the duration, and something of an appetite – the usual overruns and Q&As meant no time between films for hot food again yesterday, and after my morning Weetabix I was stuck with sustaining myself on plastic ham sandwiches and crisps from the Sainsbury’s Local round the corner on Sauchiehall St. That will be put right later today.

I have also, for the first time ever, walked out of a festival* film in the middle (the execrable Detention of the Dead reached and breached my tolerance levels, and not just mine – anybody who actually paid for a single ticket deserved to be supplied with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a blindfold). At the other end of the scale was my surprise hit of the day: Byzantium – and that was the one I very nearly skipped in favour of going for a pizza. Result.

Back to it! More info can be found here

Oh, and it’s snowing outside.

* anybody wanting the list of non-festival films I’ve walked out of in either boredom, embarrassment or pure appalled, wretched disbelief, just ask. The list is not short.
