black night

After the relative quiet of last week, it has been back to business as usual this week; that is when my living room has not been crawling with nice young men in paint-spattered overalls (whom I unfortunately am having to pay rather than vice versa). I have been taking telephone enquiries as discreetly as I can and will be kept enjoyably out of mischief until the weekend (shower, change linens, change towels, check stockings, murder Jeremy Clarkson, change linens again – it’s all go) and hopefully I can bring a little of the sunshine that this particularly uninspiring weather is lacking in the extreme – I was amazed to see the beginnings of darkness at half past three yesterday afternoon, and frankly am yet to have seen proper daylight since then!

My lovely apartment is coming along nicely, and I am happy to be taking a break from the endless comparing of paint colour cards and putting up shelving to plan my next weekend in London; I will be attending the Erotica trade show at Olympia for the first time  and will no doubt pick up a few (or more) interesting items to liven up the dark nights (and mornings, afternoons and so on), as well as catching up with some of my lady friends and hopefully making some new gentleman acquaintances too! In order to fit in my usual trip to see the dinosaurs and have cakes at the Hummingbird Café, I will be arriving on Thursday 20th and returning to the frozen North on Saturday 22nd. Anyone who would like to keep me company with either of these please do get in touch!

I am also pleased to announce that for whatever reason (and much as I would love to think that my endless wittering about it has played it’s part, I doubt as much), the odd phone calls in the wee small hours seem to have all but stopped. I am well aware that this probably will turn out to be a red rag to a bull, but nevertheless it is nice to have some uninterrupted sleep and is certainly having a positive effect on my energy levels (which surely cannot be a bad thing for any of us!) The lack of morning light could potentially play havoc with morning appointments; as past visitors will know, my bedroom is very flatteringly lit at all times thanks to it’s situation and aspect, which whilst very useful for the days when one has clearly been answering the phone until 4am, is less conducive for those when getting up early for an early assignation. Perhaps I will finally buy a clock.
